Byron B. Wolfe (1904-1973)
Byron B. Wolfe was born in Parsons, Kansas in 1904 and died near Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1973. He was a traditional western painter, illustrator, and member of the Cowboy Artists of America. "By" Wolfe worked on a cattle ranch before studying art at the University of Kansas. He established his studio in Kansas as a commercial artist specializing in Western illustrations for beer ads and newspaper reproduction. He then became an art director for a local ad agency. By 1962, Wolfe was able to paint full time, " just like retiring and doing exactly what you've wanted to do." His illustrations have been covers for Western , Western Horseman, and Kansas Historical Society magazines.
