Vince Valdez moved to Wyoming in 1953 from Mora, New Mexico. Following military service, he had a twenty year career in law enforcement with the Laramie Police Department. He enrolled at the University of Wyoming to study art. After his retirement from the police force, he became full time sculptor.

Valdez has exhibited with such groups as the Audubon National Art Exhibition of Alaska Wildlife in Anchorage, Alaska, where he received an award of merit in 1987. His exhibition with the Audubon Wildlife Art Show in Lander, Wyoming earned him a second and third place in sculpture in 1987. Judges of the Western Regional Art Show in Cheyenne, Wyoming awarded him a second and third place in sculpture in 1987. From the Western Regional Art Show in Cheyenne, Wyoming he received Best of Show in 1987.

Valdez has exhibited each summer in the Loveland Sculpture in the Park show in Loveland, Colorado from 1985 to 1993. He received Best of Show in 1985 at the Wildlife and Western Art Exhibition in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was awarded a second and third award in sculpture in 1986 and 1987 at the George Phippen Memorial Art Show in Prescott, Arizona. Rocky Mountain Wildlife Art Exhibition judges in Denver, Colorado awarded him the Award of Merit in 1987. And in 1993, he received Best of Show at the Ducks Unlimited Wildlife Art Show in Shawnee Mission, Kansas.

Other exhibitions also include Wildlife Conservation Organizations such as the Foundation for North American Wild Sheep, Game Conservation International and Safari Club International.
