Roy Martell Mason (1886-1972)
Roy Martell Mason was born in Gilbert Mills, New York in 1886. He was raised on a farm and encouraged by his father to pursue his art talent. Mason's father was an engraver and also taught his son many outdoor sports. He worked with his father in engraving and later became head of the art department for a Philadelphia lithograph company. Mason became a member of the Buffalo Society of Artists, the Salmagundi Club, the American Federation of Arts, and an Associate of the National Academy of Design. Roy also won a Gold Medal from the American Watercolor Society.
