Robert K. Abbett
Robert K. Abbett was born in Hammond, Indiana in 1926. When he got out of the U. S. Navy, he decided to study art at the University of Missouri. After graduation, he got an agency job in Chicago and studied at the Chicago Academy's night school. Later he was an apprentice at an illustration studio that was to be very beneficial to his career. After moving to New York in the early 1950's, he was a free lance illustrator until 1970. When they moved up to a Connecticut farm, he started to sell regularly through his galleries. A commission request of an English Setter named "Luke" opened the world to the art of Robert K. Abbett. He is listed in the Who's Who in American Art, a member of the Society of Illustrators, and the Society of Animal Artists.
