Don Prechtel
Don Prechtel is a traditional oil painter of "our Amercian Heritage, past and present." He was born in Los Angeles, California on December 16, 1936. He graduated from Creswell High School in Creswell, Oregon.

His historical research focuses on events during the American Civil War. These include the Virginia Military Cadets at the battle of New Market, and "For Erin and Glory" the 69th New York during the battle of Gettysburg. He was commissioned by the Military Intelligence Museum of Fort Huachuca, Arizona, the Hamilton Collection for a series of ten civil war paintings, the Third Armored Cavalry Regiment for their 150th anniversary painting, "Brave Rifles." His work is in the collections of the Sears Corporation, and the Museum of Native American Cultures. He has illustrations in many books and publications such as Random House, the University of Oklahoma Press, and the Americana Gallery Publications.

Don Prechtel was a founding member of the Northwest Rendezvous Group.
