Loren Kovich was born on December 21, 1944 in Helena, Montana. He graduated from Helena Cathedral High School and then attended two years at Carroll College. Loren graduated from Montana State University in Bozeman with a Bachelor of Science in Art with a concentration in graphic design. He then went on to teach junior high and high school with two years at Glasgow, Montana and then six years in Billings, Montana.

Loren has been a full time artist since 1978. Loren feels his most notable accomplishments have been becoming a Signature Member of the American Watercolor Society in 2011. He is also a Signature Member of the Transparent Watercolor Society of American and a member of the Montana Watercolor Society. Loren has been a finalist in the Artists Magazine Painting Competition. They have published his work in five books on the instruction of watercolor painting.
